Bangkóta– the coral reef in the native tongue– is the inspiration for the Philippine Pavilion at the Expo 2020 Dubai.

It will be a celebration of how Filipinos have nurtured themselves and how they have spread across the world– much like how the coral reefs have spread their vibrancy and beauty across the oceans.

It’s about the Filipinos’ sense of CONNECTIVITY, being one of the heaviest of internet users across the planet. It’s about PERMEABILITY, as it replicates the ebb and flow of water, culture, winds and a staggering variety of life forms.

Finally, it’s about CULTURAL SUSTAINABILITY, as the modern Filipino is the sum total of people who lived in the Philippines– across 4,000 years– in the past, the present, and into the future.

Spearheaded by the Department of Trade and Industry, EXPO 2020 Dubai will open in October 20, 2020 until April 21, 2021.
